Grand portal into the second decade,
Exit from the first,
Of the twenty first century,
As time morphs into eternity,
Like a phoenix,
2009 mocks death,
Morphing into 2010,
In a slow and concrete passing of time.
The storms of this moribund year,
Brace me for the challenges of the coming one,
The mightiest falls give meaning to the smallest rise,
Those moments lived at the fringes of high risk,
The memories of those enduring seconds one yard from peril,
Spice and sweeten the joys of victories big and small,
In this new year,
May defeat be as good a stepping stone as victory,
Treat both impostors just the same,
May we be boldly daring,
Enjoy the adventure,
Despise the pain,
Learn the lessons,

The hurt and the pain,
